Update!

Hi guys!

It’s a been a minute since I’ve done any kind of updating. But let me get you up to speed on has been going on:

I was supposed to go on Internship this summer. But unfortunately my instructor/advisor did not think I was “ready” training wise to go, I also had a place in mind but that was also turned down. I was really feeling devastated and a failure because I had been trying so hard to find a place that would be an ideal fit for me. It straight up depressed me. I had taken all this time off from work to do this (because I had a break from school as well) but I realized with the time I could do a ton of self care and refocus on my life. So that’s what I did. I probably should have gone to workout but I spent most of my time at home. I finally cleaned my studio which was most needed, I spent time with friends and family.

I started my new semester three weeks ago. I only go one day a week but I have two classes in one day. I have to do a group exercise class which requires training a small group of people including my classmates after that for an hour we have to meet to go over certification prep-y’all! It’s happening!!! That means I can do my certification test anytime after I finish in the fall. I will be done with the personal training portion of my degree by October I will being doing my internship in September then after that I will be online to finish my gen eds for my associates! I am trying to remain positive even it has been SO hard because I have numerous set backs.

Also along with my classes I am training a fellow staff member from my school on Wednesdays the next couple of weeks, and I also have to go to 7 different group exercises classes too! I’ve gone to Body Pump, and Yogilates so far and today I am trying HIIT/Tabata.  I am slowly getting back into the swing of things.

Two weeks ago I did my 3rd Color Run which wasn’t too bad but I was really worn out afterwards due to the heat and I did Body Pump the day before so my body was not happy with me.

I did it with my friends and our goal next year is to at least jog it!!

I haven’t weighed in awhile either I think May was my last official weigh in. I plan to at the end of this month to see where I am at and where I need to go from here. I think maybe once I am officially done with campus classes, I can re-focus myself and my goals.

I’m back!

Gosh! I know it’s been a while and for that I am sorry. The last few months have been busy. I’ve started school back up in March and it’s been a roller coaster.

So what have I been up to?

I’d like to say that my gym routine has been awesome and on point but I’d be lying. I’ve been having a hard time finding my groove of going to the gym or Jazzercise. I have been forcing myself to go then not enjoying it as I used to. Or there are days where I don’t flat out go. I’m on my 3rd week of school this week (after having two weeks off) and I still don’t feel adjusted back into my regular routine yet.

Not to mention, I smashed my toe Sunday so that put me out for a few days.

Plus my weight has been a roller coaster too of gaining, then loosing a little then gaining a lot. I am back down to 179 (thanks to sweating my ass off in my car with no ac for an hour last week helped with that I’m sure). I am slowly trying to get back on track as it were if I just get my gym groove going again.

Any advice out there?

2016 Goals and word of the year

Happy New Year!

Well here we are 2016. I am really hoping this year will be great! I have set a lot of fit/healthy goals along with personal ones. But I am sharing the fit ones on here.  I also have a word for 2016 too:

My word is Achieve. I have a friend who is a keep collective  rep and she made this mock up pretty cool huh?

Why I chose Achieve. Simple. If I can believe it, I can achieve it!

Now onto those goals:

  1. 200 Jazzercise classes. This might be a bit tough once I’m back in school but there’s another goal that will help me reach this! (see #10) One down 199 to go!
  2. Trek up Tower 2/20/16 Training starts now!
  3. Loose additional weight (plus extra) to reach 60 pound loss. I have been struggling to loose the additional weight plus anything I’ve gained since then I have to do the numbers but I’m hoping I can do it!
  4. Take a new fit class (kick boxing or spin) I haven’t done any new classes in awhile as much as I love Jazzercise I need to expand my horizons a bit and try some new stuff!
  5. Continue to work upper strength = going up a weight in Jazzercise. Last year my goal was to do a pull up. Well I sort of did some with the help of the machine but not free style. I want to continue with that and in Jazzercise we use free weights I went a size last year (6 pounds) my goal is 7 or maybe 8?
  6. Learn how to bench press. I think this will help with upper body strength
  7. Do at least two other 5K’s. I’d like to do the insane inflate 5K again even though it was hot it was a lot of fun. Possibly another color one as well.
  8. No pop. This one is tough! I think in 2013 I went two solid months without it? If anything I am about a once a week pop person but I want to scale it back and cut it out completely. I stop buying it at home for a while so that helps.
  9. Learn to do a side plank no knees. These are super hard! We do them often in Jazzercise and I have to use one knee to help me stay up. I want to be able to do them without knees!
  10.  Try to go to two Jazzercise classes or the gym in one day. It can be done! I’ve done doubles recently and it’s not so bad as I thought. Since I will be doing the Trek, I need to do some serious leg training and plus stair climbing, I need to go to the regular gym at least once a week along with Jazzercise for good balance.

The Color Run

Last Saturday was The Color Run and finally I talked someone into joining me. It took us an hour to complete because we walked, mainly because of the uneven streets (Downtown Omaha), and it was slightly warm too. But we had the best time ever.

The Color Run and The Color Dash are color related runs but they are totally different. Since I did both in comparison, The Color Run was better only because we were COVERED in color and glitter! We had so much fun!!

Then the crazy part? My friend loved it so much she wants to do another!! So August 1st we’re doing the Glow Run which is at night! Yup I’m doing another!! 2015 is the year of the 5K’s!

Insanse Inflate 5K

Saturday was The Insane Inflate 5K in Lincoln so I decided to write about it. As you know, I had made my goal to do at least two 5K’s this year, I ended up doing 3 (well the Color Dash wasn’t a 5K but a run none the less) this is 2nd 5K with an obstacle course. As I mentioned in my previous post, Insane Inflate is a lot like Wipe Out minus mud, water etc, and it’s basically childhood bounce houses for everyone.

The weather was HOT which is typical June weather being from Nebraska where the weather can change hourly (no joke) it was an odd change of pace from all the cool temps and rain we’ve had lately. However it made running difficult as to there was no way I was running. Honestly very few people ran which I was relieved to see.

I was set to run at 10:45, the starting line was a slide you climbed up and dropped down:

I wasn’t nervous until I saw that! But it wasn’t that bad as it turned out. The course was many different inflate obstacles majority were slides but some involved climbing upwards which my experience isn’t all that awesome I wasn’t sure how I was going to make it through one of them until I followed somebody else’s lead. I did a lot of bouncing on my booty as well. By the time I was to the finish line, (two sets of slides) I was crawling I was wrung out from the heat! But despite walking I finished in 52 minutes beating my previous time by 7 minutes.

Overall the 5K was really fun, the downfall was only one drink station during the entire 5K, and honestly it would have been nice to have another since it was so stinking hot to prevent heat exhaustion. But overall I had fun, got just a wee bit sunburned (I will take that over a bruise any day!) and I’m not sore! Possibly I might do this one again!

2nd 5K

Saturday, I am running my 2nd obstacle 5K in Lincoln The Insane Inflate 5K. It’s a lot like Wipe Out (minus mud, and water), and inflate bounce houses and games for kids.

Last September, I ran 5K the Hard Way which is a mud run of course but it was hard especially climbing uphill muddy.

I haven’t fully prepared for this 5K as much as I’ve liked, I wanted to do more but I’ve down with a cold so I am still recovering. I am hoping tomorrow (Friday) I can at least squeeze in a final walk with some lifting.

I am looking forward to this however I go in with an open mind, pace myself and importantly have fun!

The Color Dash

For the New Year I made a goal to run at least 2 5K this year. Well I added a third into the mix. My town hosted the first ever Color Dash. At first I wasn’t going to do it because well it fell on the same day as Relay For Life and also my work weekend.  Then my job sponsored the event and was offering free slots and I just so happen to win one so I was running.

Ok techincally I’m not a “runner” I have a bad knee but I can jog and walk. Last September I did my first 5K, 5K the Hard Way which was hard as the title described. It kicked my ass literally but overall I enjoyed the experince.

Actually I had planned to do “The Color Run” in July. But I figured it was good practice to do this one.

The day of dash came and it was COLD. I wasn’t prepared for that! I had a white shirt so I had to run home and grab another white long sleeved shirt.  The route was around our main sections of town including our historic downtown. If you’re not familiar with any of the “Color Runs” you run or walk so many miles then at each stop your doused with a different colored powder. Until you’re fully colored it’s really fun.

It was 2.9 miles and I finished in 50 minutes:

In less than 2 weeks I will be running my 2nd 5K in Lincoln, Nebraska. The Insane Inflate 5K!
