Starting Over

It’s feel weird to say that.”Starting over”

Honestly, I never thought I would be in this position again after dropping all the weight. I knew I would have to maintain it and I managed to do well for a few years before I decided to go back to school.

My life for 2 long years was completely altered.

Before College:

I would get off work, get a light breakfast, go to the gym for an hour (or Jazzercise), come home eat a good meal, bathe and relax then sleep for work. And repeat almost every day.

College:

I would get off work, shove down a quick breakfast, change then drive 45 minutes to be at class by 9 until noon, drive 45 minutes home, come home then eat lunch (or sometimes drive through) then drive to unwind to sleep for work and repeat daily for the first two months then every other day for the next two years.

Even after going to part time, I felt I didn’t have time to workout, because I was exhausted from losing the extra sleep I was normally getting so I would go to bed early on non school days in hopes to catch up. But I was so stressed the overeating began, I stopped working out completely. The weight came back slowly and I felt really inferior to my classmates. Working a full time job overnights, then going to school part time in itself is a struggle just like it is for anyone else who has their own life.

I really tried to “start over” in 2018 that didn’t pan out as well I hoped. I made an honest effort but it fell through.

But I have not given up.

Yesterday I went to the gym for the first time in a month:

It’s a bit blurry but….

I eased myself back doing about 15 minutes or so on the treadmill. Then I did a light lifting session including some dead-lifts, hip thrusts and ended with burpees. I probably spent about 35 minutes total (just a guess) there but at least I did it.

When I got home, I wiped clean my marker board (that kept track of my weight loss) and planning to “start over” with a new weigh in on Sunday. I haven’t really set any goals right now I just want to start (it is my word for 2018 after all) and go from there.

Weight loss isn’t easy but I will succeed! I will be posting my stats on Sunday/Monday!

Weekly Check In

As you can see I did not gain or lost this past week. Which is fine with me!

I totally missed the gym last week. There’s no real excuse as of why the week wasn’t that bad either just felt overly tired and I focused on my home which needed my attention.  Also I am glad it’s a new month because I have some exciting things happening!

But first:

I rescheduled my certification exam for the spring. Mainly because I wasn’t as ready to do it as I wanted to be. I started studying just like a week before and I wasn’t confident in my practice test scores either plus with it still being winter here (thanks a lot groundhog dude) I rather not chance the weather since the testing place is a good 45 minutes or so away.  (that’s driving distance)

I am not doing Trek Up the Tower. Mainly because I haven’t trained hard for it as I wanted this is mostly on me and lack of motivation which has been an issue for me. That’s a post for another day I’m sure.

I had a pop on Saturday after almost three weeks of not having one and it tasted awful. I think I finally broke my habit so that I don’t have to go back down that path.  Plus the cravings have subsided. A major victory for me.

Now onto the good news:

I have a Grease themed shoot Sunday. I am really excited for this!

I am going to Planet Comic Con and meet one of my idols Jason David Frank (he played the green ranger/white ranger in the early 90’s when I watched power rangers). I was supposed to go meet him two years ago but that fell through so I am really excited!

 

Other than that, I have nothing new to report. I am not setting any weekly goals as I am just going with the flow.

Weigh In update!

Happy Friday!

Starting Weight 217.00

Needless to say I am happy that I have lost another two pounds this week despite as I mentioned on Monday the week has been rough as I had another funeral to attend, we had another really cold nasty day (no school again) and I didn’t make it to the gym at all. Plus I was having still having major effects from Seasonal Affect Disorder so I just listened to my body and stayed home to recuperate.  Which is sometimes more than taking a hot bath, drinking tea and wearing a face mask (although those are on my list) it’s just to better yourself and take care your needs. I am big advocate of self care.

I plan to stay on this weigh in when I don’t work routine because weighing in first thing when I wake up in the morning makes a difference in my opinion so I won’t be weighing in again until next Sunday which will be January 28th even though I am off Sunday night/into Monday morning since I just weighed in Friday, I don’t think there is a point to do another weigh in two days after my weekly weigh in, so I will weigh in next Sunday January 28. Since I am off Friday and Saturday night.

Although I did set up my “home gym” finally this morning and I did about a 30 minute workout routine with my equipment. I worked up a sweat! I decided that on my “don’t break the chain” tally sheet that I would count home works along with going to the gym.

No pop at all since Sunday again and I have been getting the headaches (which is to be expected) but I haven’t been tempted at all which is really good. That’s usually is my downfall once I get over the hump, then it will  get better.

Nutrition wise this, I have been doing okay despite going to a funeral (carbs and sweets) I had one cheat meal so far. I decided not to track which is what I was doing in the past, since my schedule is different then the average person since I work overnights, and I don’t want to obsessed with counting calories. But again that’s my opinion if tracking works for you then more power to you.

One big thing I did Friday morning was clean out my freezer, and my upper cupboard. I HAD a lot of expired products!

Goals for the upcoming week:

*Go to the gym (or a home workout) Four days this week (though we’re supposed to get another snow storm Sunday so I am hoping to get there Monday)

*Meal prep for the week

*Try a new recipe

*Clean out the rest of my cupboards

*Make smoothies for a different breakfast option

I think that’s it for me! I rambled a bit too much I know but I will see you in a week with my results!

August Bullet Journal

I can’t believe it’s August already!!  Where did July go?

As you know, I’ve been doing somewhat of a bullet journal which I incorporated with my regular journal. I used to be a big journaling but now with everything online I’ve shied away from it. I still write in it but not as often as I should be.  So what I have been doing is drawing out a calendar/tracker to monitor certain things that I’ve chosen and also my monthly goals. This is way I open my journal more and re-read my goals etc so I don’t forget them.

I do have a regular planner too but I use that for everything else including keeping track of my homework.

I have been bullet journaling since April and I shared June’s but not July’s only because I got busy with vacation, the start of the new semester, etc.  It wasn’t that great of a month anyways so it’s a new month a clean slate and new goals!

I had for July’s jumped ahead a few pages in my journal and drew it out but I didn’t use all those pages for my thoughts (I have almost caught up) so I did August’s page after July’s it took me a while to it get just right. I did black sharpie over my boxes this time so it’s stands out a bit more

For my tracker I did it a bit different: I am going to track my water instead of how often I drink a pop (which I had before) I think I got discouraged with that so I figured to get rid of it altogether and just highlight the good which is drinking more water. I will still track my workouts like before and when I weigh in (Which I have yet to do but plan to after work).

August goals:

One of things I want to do is enter a pin up pageant happening in September! I missed my chance last year so I am going early to register! I want to get out of my comfort zone and meet more people in the pinup community

Loose 5 pounds. Yes I’ve written this before and I have been half assed about it. But I really need to get back on track!

Do well in school. This is my last semester on campus before my internship, and before I go online for Gen Ed’s for the next year. So it is important that I still work hard and be the best me I can be.

More water less pop. July was not a good month for me. I am really going to try this month!

Workout 3x’s a week/walk more. I need to get back into my routine. With me having to take a group exercise class each week has given a bit of a push to go to the gym again I just need to make the commitment again and the Y will be closing coming up for the week (for cleaning) so that means going to the other gym that I go to for school (Prairie Life in Omaha) to attend classes and actually workout there for reals on my own. That’s a big step for me. Also that the weather is starting to cool down a bit (well sort of) I need to start walking again too.

Be more positive. This is hard one for me. I tend to be dwell on certain things but I need to move forward and I’ve done more self talk as well that I can give myself that “push” I need to keep moving forward.

Last but not least I have a pin up shoot at the end of August. This will be my 3rd shoot and I am really excited for it. I haven’t been feeling like myself lately so I think getting glammed up and feeling pretty might help.

And I wrote my goals on a different page instead of my calendar since sharpies bleed through thinner paper. I like this set up I think. Still a work in progress!

Weekly update

Current Weight 183

I weighed in on Saturday 9/24 and as you can see I didn’t gain or lost just stayed the same so I am okay with that.

Last week was stressful but ended on a good note. I had sinus issues again Thursday so it made being in class/training extremely difficult. I stayed on task with my menu planning for the 2nd week too. Week 3 has gotten off to a rather shaky start. I didn’t grocery shop until Monday after so for my meal at work Sunday was just something quick to throw in the microwave.

Yesterday was bad too I have been struggling so much with school which is ironic because I was in the same position a year ago but in a different class!! But all you can do is keep moving forward as one of my friends is known to say!

With that, I am going to go to the Y today so I can familiarize myself with equipment again and hopefully  ease back in a routine. I have struggled with that as well. One day at a time.

Weekly update

I am on the last leg of my 2nd summer semester of school so I have one week and day to go. I have a ton of homework to do and I’m a bit overwhelmed. Also the week didn’t go as planned either. I had another round of sinuses Thursday into Friday so that put me out of the game again. If you don’t know what it’s like to have sinuses they stink. The headaches are the worse. I didn’t do any new recipes I ate pretty lousy all week and made it to Jazzercise only twice no walking or Y trips either.

The only good news was that I got 75 Jazzercise classes Saturday. That puts me at only 75 more classes to reach 150 and 125 classes away from 200. I’m not sure if I am going to make 200 by the end of the year but I am trying to reach 150.

Also I weighed in Monday since it had been a month and I gained four pounds.  So my current weight is 183. I am really upset about it however I just have to keep moving forward which is a hard thing to do because I have struggled so much as it is. Monday was a day of self-care, I wrote some affirmations and stuck them around my full length mirror, I made some orange pops using just water and orange Crush water enhancer stuff:

Also I washed the dishes, meal prepped for the week, I made myself a really good salad for lunch, and relaxed by watching the movie Fight Club.  I will be writing the importance of self care later on.

As for goals this week. I am not setting any since I have a huge final assignment due Friday plus regular school work too. But once I get everything done I will focus on getting back on track!

Rewiring yourself

In school, we watch A LOT of motivational videos. I kid you not. They are to kind help shape us into the personal trainer we desire to be and also might be the kick in the pants we need.

I admitted in my last post, that I have been struggling with everything including my gym routine which has taken a major back seat. Endless excuses and lack of motivation (funny we’ve talking about that this week in class!) has left me feeling down and out.

It happens. More often than you think.

While I don’t have all the answers of how or why but I do know you can get back on track. I’ve said it posts before on what to do if you feel that way. But sometimes you need more than just an inspirational post to get you back in the game.

Watch this video it’s a bit long but worth it! I really liked what Jenny had to say and because she’s a girl after my own heart! Because she is loud like me 😉 but her message is important I really liked the the I AM statements.

I decided to start out small with mine I did two which are:

I AM okay

I AM going to workout

As time goes on, I will add more as I see fit 🙂

Small steps leading to bigger ones!
